A global experiment

If you are impatient for more things to do in your kitchen you could do worse than to take part in the Global Experiment that the Royal Society of Chemistry is running as part of Chemistry Week.

The experiment requires nothing more than tincture of iodine, some starch and a source of vitamin C. With a vitamin C tablet to calibrate solutions you will be able to use iodine and the starch indicator to measure vitamin C content of fruits and vegetables, of juices and the water vegetables have been cooked in.

All the details and worksheets can be found on the Royal Society of Chemistry’s web site. Have fun and don’t forget to log your results!
