Umjikelezo We Science Festival 2017

Kitchen Chemistry spent a week in Durban (4-8 September) helping a group of local science communicators deliver inspirational science to rural schools around Durban. The Festival itself was a pilot and took place Tuesday to Thursday, but there is always something for the Kitchen Chemist to do!

Norwich Science Festival 2016

The Kitchen Chemistry show was part of Chemistry Day (26/10), a day organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry, at the Norwich Science Festival run by the Forum Trust from 18 -30 October. The Kitchen Chemist was also involved in Physics Fest which was a physics day organised by the local Institute of Physics.

Doesn’t time fly? One minute I was sorting out my return from South Africa after Science Week (which I might blog about later) and now I am preparing myself for Christmas… and beyond. In the meantime I have been busy with the website. Now I can share the news of the discussion forum and shop.

What’s in store

The remainder of the year is looking exciting for the Kitchen Chemist. In addition to the local appearances there is a return to South Africa with Kitchen Chemistry: Seconds, a return to “where science lives” in November and a mini-tour of the South West in December.

Why is 175 so important to the RSC this year?

If you have anything to do with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) you will have noticed that the number 175 features heavily this year. We have 175 Faces of Chemistry, 175 Minutes of Chemistry and the give-away 175 Anniversary Exhibition. Yes, the oldest chemical society in the world is 175 years old this year.
